Lauren Kriedemann
I just love children. Their quirks, smiles, shyness, belly laughs and cute conversations. My new approach to pre-school photography, aims to show each child's uniqueness and personality, not just the cheesy fake smile. I spend time with each child building trust and being a little silly to get a natural and gorgeous photo. I also love to document them unposed as their day unfolds in my Day In The Life series. This gives parents a rare fly-on-the-wall look into their child's school day. My approach to family photography is very similar, documenting your families uniqueness in a natural and not overly styled way.
I've been a photographer since I was 16. I started in Gr 10, went on to study a degree in photography, then lectured at photography course, and shot weddings for 20 years. When I had children and covid hit and no weddings for 3 years. i got used to being home with my family and decided to not do as many weddings and to focus on pre-school photography. It is the perfect fit for me, combining my love for children and natural unposed photography.
SCHOOL SHOOTS
I will come to your school and start with a Day In The Life documentary series of unposed images. This allows the children to get used to me. Then I move onto the portraits and class photos. After the shoot, I spend hours de-crusting children's grubby faces. Edited images will be on a password-protected gallery for parents to view and purchase.
FUN FACTS ABOUT ME
I have two children, Charlotte and Max, and a wonderful husband, Kevin. I love to swim in the ocean, cuddle babies. When my home is full of friends and children I am happiest. I love all things art and crafts. Organising my cupboards is so satisfying, (yes I have a craft cupboard all labelled and organised). I love my bed and PJs. Tea is my comfort drink, as well as G&Ts with my bestie.
Laughing and deep conversations with friends fills me up. Walks in the forest with my cute dogs Poppit and Ella, calm me. I love tattoos, eclectic and colourful design style with a touch of moody,(I have black walls in my house). I love house plants.
Authentic connections with people give me energy. Im not scared of big emotions or difficult topics. I love a good podcast and all books on child psychology. In another life I would have been a child psychologist. I love spontaneity and adventure. I love delicious food, especially dessert. And lastly I love Cape Town and cant imagine wanting to live anywhere else. My life is good!
FAMILY SHOOTS
I like to do family shoots with the same natural approach. we will decide on a location that your family love either outdoors or at your home. I will spend an hour with you photographing natural images of your family interactions. I don't like to make it overly styled so no blue jeans and white shirts looks. Wear what makes you feel good and comfotable and makes you feel like you are, not too dressed up. Give a little thought to some colour combos you like with out it having to look like a magazine shoot.
